Annabeth's Pain

SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T READ THE LOST HERO:

Annabeth had been the leader of the Athena cabin for a while, she was well liked and respected. It was up to her to make sure the cabin was in order, and she was grateful she was in charge of the Athena cabin and not one like Ares, because her half-siblings were already pretty tidy. “’Kay, everyone. Time to head out for breakfast.” she called out. After everyone was gone, she glanced around the room one last time. Something
sparkled, getting her attention. Cautiously, Annabeth walked over to the dresser. Lately, since HE had disappeared, she had been on the edge. He heartbeat speed up, as she braced herself. But the closer she got to the dresser, Annabeth could tell it was only the frame of a photo that had caught the light. She let out a shaky laugh, reaching for the picture. Her eyes widened, realizing the photo was one of her and Percy kissing, her favorite photo of them actually. How it had become forgotten, how had she allowed books to be sacked up around it, making it impossible to see? She wondered, but she already knew. It was to hard to see HIM, to painful anymore to even think of him to long, yet alone seeing a memory of them. Her hand started shaking, and the photo slipped out between her fingers. With a loud clank, it hit the desk. “He’s, he’s gone.” She backed up, her breathing speeding up. She sank onto the nearest bed. “And he might not be coming back.”

I don’t know how to make the words italicized. Sorry for the little story.

So, the scene where Piper sees the photo of Annabeth and Percy got me thinking of how Annabeth felt every time she saw it. Well, this isn't the photo in the office, but of course Annabeth would have had some photos of her and Percy.
